Visual and Performing Arts
Music education in the elementary school level is a vital aspect of a successful school’s curriculum. Researchers have continually gathered evidence supporting the benefits and positive effects of music education within the school and have clearly demonstrated the need for elementary music programs. All students at Thornhill get the opportunity to learn music from one of our amazing music teachers. TK-2nd graders participate in African drumming class once a week. 3-5 graders pick a string instrument to focus on for their last three years of elementary school.
At the end of each semester, all grades perform in Winter and Spring concerts for family and friends.
Students at Thornhill have the opportunity to learn art from our amazing art teacher, Ms. Tricia Larsen. Students learn the basic elements of art and form. Ms. Bull works closely with classroom teachers to integrate art with social studies and science.
String Music Zoom Time with Ms. Green
Our 3rd-5th grade music director, Linda Green, is hosting weekly music Zoom get-togethers with Thornhill students by grade during school closures.
In addition, she has some helpful materials for all grades in her Thornhill Spring Music folder.
Below are the dates/times; links were sent directly from Ms. Green.
