PFC

The Thornhill PFC is the school’s official parent-teacher organization, comprised of parents, teachers, and the school principal. All families and faculty are welcome to participate. PFC funding decisions are made by the Executive Board.

If you wish to participate on the Board, or wish to present ideas, please contact the PFC President at president@thornhillschool.org or a specific Chairperson.

PFC Mission

“We, the parents and guardians of Thornhill Elementary School students, establish the Thornhill PFC, a volunteer organization, for the purpose of fostering academic knowledge, intellectual curiosity, imaginative thought, and social responsibility in our children. The PFC will work with the teachers and principal of Thornhill Elementary School to set priorities to supplement and support existing programs, and to raise and allocate funds to accomplish these goals.”      Bylaws, 2001.

Why Should I Join ?

California has one of the lowest spending rates per pupil in the nation. In the face of drastically shrinking state and local funding, parent involvement in our schools is essential. By joining the Parent Faculty Club (PFC) you will be reinforcing your commitment to support and enrich the educational experience of your child and all children in our community. The beginning of the school year is an ideal time to review our many volunteer opportunities, and choose how you’d like to help. Read the PFC brochure to learn more.

When does the PFC meet?

For the school year 2011-12, the PFC meetings will be held on the following dates: September 14,  October 12,  November 16, January 11,  March 21 and May 16 from 6:30 to 8:00 pm at the school. Babysitting is provided free of charge. The president of the PFC presides over these meetings. The principal, two teacher representatives, and PFC Board members attend and report on school and district news. Please come and stay informed, ask questions, and get involved!
