Tricia Larsen

ART INSTRUCTOR
triciajl58@gmail.com

My name is Tricia Larsen, and I’ve been the Art Instructor at Thornhill for several years. I am very familiar with Thornhill, as my two younger children attended the school many years ago. This year, I will be providing arts education to 3rd  (including the 2/3 combo class), 4th, and 5th grade students. I am passionate about education and the role art plays in lifelong education and
self-development.

I am excited to guide your children in their creative explorations. We’ll be using a variety of art mediums and activities, such as ceramics, pastels, paint, fabric, paper collage, sculpture, printing, drawing, foil engraving, origami, and others.

❝ I am passionate about education and the role art plays in lifelong education and self-development.❞

At its core, art is an accessible, fun, and safe means of self-expression: communicating one’s feelings, needs, thoughts, perceptions, and aspirations. Not only does art foster children’s creativity and imagination, it will hone their skills in problem-solving, cooperation, self-awareness, sequencing, planning, organization, interpersonal relations, empathy, collaboration, and communication.

Art builds and reinforces the process of setting goals, putting forth a best effort, taking risks, and developing self-confidence. Arts education is an invaluable conduit to successfully approach, understand, and practice any subject matter.

Art is vital empowerment and connection. Creativity is a quality directly linked to being one of the most important factors in the success of individuals and groups. Everyone benefits!
