Show Your Teacher Appreciation

Did you know that next week is Teacher Appreciation Week at Thornhill? We kick
it off with the Teacher Appreciation Luncheon today, but please feel free to appreciate your
teachers all next week, as well! As a parent who’s been at Thornhill since Kindergarten, I
am happy to say that we have been blessed with a number of fantastic teachers, helping
my child grow and learn. So on behalf of all us parents, THANK YOU TEACHERS!!! Parents,
I hope that you take the time to say ‘Thanks’ next week when you see your child’s teacher,
send them a quick email of support, or encourage your child to share a note or card or

Science Fair / Final PFC Meeting May 16

This year, the Science Fair and the last PFC meeting of the school year will be held
on the same evening, Wednesday, May 16. The Science Fair will run from 6-6:45
PM with the projects being on display in the classrooms. After browsing the students’ work,
you can check in your children to childcare in the AT portable and then head to the MPR for
the PFC General Meeting, which starts at 7 PM. The focus of the meeting will be the
Board Slate for the 2012-2013 PFC Officers, the 2012-2013 operating budget,
and the surplus spending plan recommended by the Budget Committee. All three
items will need to be approved by the membership, so please plan to attend. The meeting will wrapup

Thornhill Carnival is Coming!

Current and prospective families are invited to attend an old-fashioned Spring Carnival held in the school yard, featuring booths, games, prizes, food, entertainment and fun. The Carnival will be held on Saturday, May 19 from 10 AM to 3PM. Here’s how you can participate:

Sweets for the Cakewalk: Share your favorite sweets – homemade or store bought.
Help Staff a Booth: Sign up for a one-hour shift in your class booth
Volunteer to help in the ticket booth, prize booth, or the food booth
Food: Dads Club BBQ
Face Painters: Do we have any volunteer artists, who enjoy working on small but adorable canvasses?
Recycled Toys: Look under beds, in closets, in storage…anywhere – for toys in good condition to be used for the consolation prizes; look out for a box to drop them off in the main office
Entertainment: We need two parent volunteers to manage the Talent Show for the Carnival (please email: carnival@thornhillschool.org to sign up)
Kids: Sign up for the talent show. Do you have a special talent or skill to entertain us? We’d like to see on stage all of Thornhill’s singers, dancers, acrobats, comics, dramatic performers, etc.
