Thornhill Elementary School : PFC : Fundraisers

PFC Fundraisers

Comprised of parents, teachers, and school staff, the PFC provides the financial and volunteer support that gives our children a truly outstanding educational experience.

In the 2010-2011 budget, the PFC is funding an average of $500 per student. We pay for our programs through a variety of fundraising activities..

Donating your time and participating in fundraisers is a great opportunity to get to know the school and families that make up the Thornhill community. While some fundraisers ask families to make a contribution themselves, or seek donations from the community, there are many that don’t require a donation from the family at all. Money is donated by corporations who donate to schools as part of their charitable giving programs.

Back To School Donation Drive

The Back to School Donation Drive is Thornhill’s first major fundraiser of the year. Everyone’s contribution is important and we are hoping to raise the necessary $500 per student required to maintain the quality programs our children deserve. The Back to School Donation Drive runs from September 6 through October 8, 2010. Click here to learn more about how you can help.

Contact Sandy Lowe or Ellen Staple at bsdd@thornhillschool.org for more information.

Walk-a-Thon

Mark your calendar for Saturday, October 23rd, 2010. This will be one fun day for our California kids! They get to walk and receive rewards while everyone else gets to cheer them on. We'll have yummy food from our own Dad's Club, music from an awesome DJ, as well as other fun activities at one of our BIGGEST fundraisers of the year.

For more information, please contact the PFC Walkathon Chair, Haleema Silverman at walkathon@thornhillschool.org or visit the Walkathon information page.

See’s Candies

See’s will be sold in the Fall and the Spring. The money raised from the sales goes towards the 5th Grade promotion and yearbook. Contact: sees@thornhillschool.org more information

Thornhill Annual Benefit: California Dreamin’

Schedule a sitter and dust off those dancing shoes for this adults-only party of the season! On Saturday, March 12, 2011, Thornhill parents, family members and friends will cruise over to Uptown Body & Fender in downtown Oakland for an evening of delicious eats, drinks, dancing – and competitive bidding on a wide array of silent and live auction items.

This year's theme, California Dreamin', will celebrate the wonders of our beautiful state -- from foods and destinations to cultural activities and innovations.

VOLUNTEER!
This is a huge party that will take shape with the help of many minds and hands. We need you! Whether you’re interested in leading a charge or stuffing envelopes, there is still a place for you on the team. Check out the Auction Teams List for descriptions of duties and sign up for a team.

DONATE!
A long and varied list of bid items makes for a great auction. We will accept just about anything you have to offer, paring donations from families across the school to create exciting one-of-a-kind packages. From vacation rentals, frequent flyer miles, event tickets, wine, organized parties, and much more, we need whatever you can give! Perhaps you own a business or otherwise have connections to interesting items or potential sponsors. Please let us know!

ATTEND!
What’s a dazzling party without a fabulous group of attendees to wine, dine and entertain? This event is equal parts community building and fundraising. Please join us! Formal party invitations will be mailed to all families later this school year, but generous donors to the Back to School Donation Drive will secure their tickets early. Look for promotions during the Drive!

For more information about the Annual Benefit, please contact the co-chairs, Kristine Carl and Nancy Atlas, at benefit@thornhillschool.org.
