PFC Committees

PFC leadership consists of an Executive Board and a number of committees.

Room Parents: Several parents per room help promote parent/teacher classroom cooperation. You would help develop a phone tree, plan holiday parties, and a Spring Carnival booth.

Art & Music Enrichment Committees:These committees promotes student appreciation of The Arts. It presents an annual festival of student art work, sponsors assemblies, & brings performance artists to Thornhill. It was responsible for overseeing the Rain Forest & Sea Life murals behind the school, and continues to work on projects to beautify our community.

Technology Committee:The PFC purchases computers & software and helps promote their use in the classroom. Last year the Technology Committee installed a school wide network to link all classrooms to the Internet. They also bought and installed ethernet cards and the memory necessary for this access.

Site/Safety Committee:The Site/Safety Committee is responsible for supervising projects related to the improvement of the school building and grounds, and improving the safety of students, staff and parents. This committee works with the school administration and OUSD in order to maximize results. Projects undertaken by parent volunteers and paid for by the PFC in the past have included beautifying the back lunch area, bolting tall shelves to walls in the classroom, painting the “Kids at Play” mural on the play yard wall, and maintaining emergency supplies in the yard container. Opportunities to volunteer are available on scheduled work days or anytime for those with ideas and energy.

Hospitality Committee:This committee coordinates the PFC’s New Family Social, First Day of School Coffee, Teacher Appreciation Luncheon, and monthly PFC meeting refreshments.
